The Bangalore center of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, a prominent
signpost in Bangalore’s cultural scenario, bloomed in
1965 and enjoys an enviable a reputation in the service of
arts, education and culture as envisioned by its founder,
Kulpati Dr. Kanhaiyalal Maneklal Munshiji. Dr. Munshhiji,
who set up Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in 1938.
Bhavan is the brain-child of Dr. K M Munshi, a visionary,
who dreamt of the moulding every Indian into an ethical citizen
rooted in rich ethical values of this great nation.
|
 |
Founded in 1938, it had its objective of promoting and propagating
Indian values and culture spanning literature, Music, Dance
and other fine arts. A versatile personality donning various
roles as lawyer, creative writer, constitution-maker, freedom
fighter, administrator, organization-builder and champion
of Indian culture, Dr. Munshi looked upon himself as a "sea
shell thrown up by the mighty flood of Indian renaissance."
|
 |
With
the wholesome blessings of sage-like personalities like
Mahatma Gandhi and Gurudev Tagore, Dr.Munshi straightway
set forth broad-based schemes towards the fulfilment of
its ideals. The schemes duly exfoliated, the Bhavan has
today grown into a multifaceted, worldwide organization
with branches spread the world over. |

Karnataka,
seat of rich culture brought in many powerful dynasties
which ruled the region, embracing new artistic dimensions
from the neighbouring states such as Classical dances and
music which have become the way of life in Karnataka, a
state which has contributed immensely to the pan-Indian
scenario. Karnataka is the seat of Hindu philosophy hosting
the three major schools of thought viz., Advaita, Visistadvaita
and Dvaita. The culture of Karnataka is a unique mix of
all these elements and much more. From Palaeolithic age
to the modern Karnataka, the state has been a forerunner
in industrialization with its capital Bangalore being the
IT capital of the country, blends the old roots and the
new schools of business thoughts. |
